The 100m End | Short Film

This film is about a boy (Daniel) who has the passion to run, yet in order to pursue his dream he must be faster. So he trains and trains and trains all the way into the night. When the morning comes, will he be fast enough?

I shot this film with my phone so some shots didn't appear the way I wanted them, for example, the over-shoulder tracking shot was shaky and didn't focus as well due to the limited light and the zoom wasn't as clean. However, I really enjoyed just going out filming and trying to bring across a flowing narrative which I feel I did.

One theme I tried to show throughout was motivation. I attempted to use the earphones as a method of symbolism, paying heed to them in scenes which show Daniel's persistence or foreshadowing a moment when he might need motivation (In his bedroom)

I tried to become more experimental with colours. The bedroom shot being blacks and whites to distill a bland and boring mood and atmosphere yet the coloured book to bring attention to the earphones. The red car flashing by the archway to almost "scoop" the audience up in a sudden movement of speed. The orange glow and green smudge in the final "night running" scene, add some variety and excitement to the moment.
